1. General Travel Information
Yes, Kenya is a leading global tourist destination and is generally safe for travelers. Like any other country, we recommend following standard travel precautions. Our Jamutech guides are locals with deep knowledge of the areas you will visit and will ensure your safety throughout your journey.
Most visitors to Kenya require an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). This must be applied for online via the official government portal before departure. Jamutech provides Visa Assistance services to help our clients navigate this process smoothly.
The local currency is the Kenya Shilling (KES). While US Dollars (printed after 2006) are widely accepted in hotels and parks, we recommend carrying some local currency for small purchases. Major Credit Cards (Visa/Mastercard) are accepted in most hotels and malls, though a surcharge may apply.
2. Safari & Wildlife FAQs
The Big Five refers to the Lion, Leopard, African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, and Rhinoceros. These were historically considered the most difficult animals to hunt on foot, but today they are the most sought-after sightings for photography and conservation.
We use two main types of custom-designed vehicles:
Safari Tour Vans: Cost-effective with a pop-up roof for 360-degree viewing.
4×4 Land Cruisers: Premium vehicles ideal for rugged terrain and photographic safaris, also featuring pop-up roofs. All our vehicles are equipped with long-range high-frequency radios and charging ports.
Absolutely! Kenya is a fantastic family destination. Many of our partner lodges offer “Junior Ranger” programs and family suites. We recommend children be at least 3–5 years old to fully enjoy the longer game drives.
We recommend neutral colors like khaki, olive green, and tan. Avoid bright colors and camouflage patterns (which are reserved for the military in Kenya). Layers are essential, as mornings are chilly while afternoons can be quite hot.
3. Booking & Logistics
Yes! Jamutech specializes in tailor-made adventures. While we offer popular packages, we take pride in designing itineraries that match your specific interests, budget, and desired pace.
Yes, we provide comprehensive airline ticketing services for both domestic and international flights, ensuring your flight times align perfectly with your safari or business schedule.
Typically, our safari packages include transport, accommodation, meals on safari, and professional guide services. They usually exclude park entry fees (paid to the government via e-Citizen), tips, laundry, and alcoholic beverages, unless stated otherwise.
4. Corporate & Event Management
Yes. We have a dedicated team for Corporate Event Management, handling everything from team-building retreats in the Rift Valley to executive airport transfers and conference bookings in Nairobi.
We provide 24/7 airport transfer and limousine services from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Wilson Airport to any hotel or destination in Kenya.
5. Health & Sustainability
A Yellow Fever certificate is required if you are arriving from a country with a risk of Yellow Fever. Malaria is present in some areas; we strongly advise consulting your doctor for prophylaxis before travel.
We are committed to eco-friendly practices. We partner with lodges that utilize solar power, support local community projects, and strictly adhere to “Leave No Trace” principles during our safaris.
